OLY 2025 Report

Dear Members,

We wish to express our gratitude to all members whom have supported the Opening of Legal Year of Sabah and Sarawak 2025 ("OLY 2025") in Kuching, Sarawak on 10th January 2025 and those who have attended the National Symposium of Islamic Banking and Finance on 11th and 12th January 2025. A total of 600 members from Judiciary, Attorney-General's Chambers and the Sarawak Bar have attended the OLY 2025 Procession and Court Proceedings at Hikmah Exchange Event Centre. We are delighted to have several foreign delegates from Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan to be with us this year.

We also thank the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg and the Sarawak legal fraternity for supporting our OLY 2025 Gala Dinner held on 10th January 2025 at Riverside Majestic Hotel Sarawak Chambers with a total number of 670 attendees.

We have a total of 200 participants attending the National Symposium of Islamic Banking and Finance on 11th and 12th January 2025.

We have received a number of inquiries on the organisation of the OLY 2025 in Kuching.  We wish to put on record that the OLY 2025 in Kuching was jointly organised by the Advocates Association of Sarawak Sibu and Bintulu Branch as AAS Kuching Branch Committee was given a mandate of not taking up OLY 2025 events in Kuching. AAS Kuching Branch had voted on this matter in their Annual General Meeting 2023 and also in the Extraordinary General Meeting 2024.

We once again thank all members for their strong support for the OLY 2025 and especially Datuk Shankar Ram Asnani and Datin Karishma Shankar Asnani for sponsoring the performers from Kuala Lumpur during the OLY 2025 Gala Dinner.
