AAS Central Committee Members for the term 2024 to 2026 | President's Report 2024

We wish to inform you that the Annual Delegates Conference 2024 ("ADC") of The Advocates Association of Sarawak was recently concluded on 7th December 2024.
The new Central Committee Members elected for the 2024-2026 term are as follows:-

We wish to place on record on gratitude to the past Central Committee Members for their contribution and service to the AAS during their term in office. The new Central Committee Members shall endeavour to continue the foundation laid by the past Central Committee Members to maintain the motion of progress for the betterment of the AAS and its members.

For new application for the Letter of No Objection ("LONO"), please ensure that your respective application is submitted with complete supporting documentations and prescribed fees for our processing. The new LONO Form circulates by Secretariat on 05.12.2024 has been approved and accepted unanimously by the Delegates of the Annual Delegates Conference 2024 with no further amendments being made.
On the YBGK Pledge matter, we would like to inform that the AAS Central has been assisting the Court in monitoring the YBGK Pledge since 2015, including assisting advocates with providing extension of time to complete the same, despite the YBGK Pledges being made directly to the Court by fellow Petitioners during admission. The Delegates of the Annual Delegated Conference 2024 have deliberated on this matter and have come to the unanimous decisions that the AAS central shall no longer monitor the YBGK Pledge on behalf of the Court. Completion of YBGK Pledge shall no longer be a requirement for application of LONO for renewal of Practicing Certificates. The requirement on the fulfillment of YBGK Pledge shall be handled and left at the sole discretion of the Court.
Please be reminded to have your Practicing Certificate issued by the Registrar for the year ending 2025 at the soonest possible to entitle you to practice as Advocates.
We also attach herewith the President's Report for the year 2024 together with its enclosures and the AAS Central's Audited Accounts for your attention.
In the meantime, we appreciate your continuing support to the AAS Central Committee, and we hope to maintain and solidify the working relationship for the mutual benefit of AAS and all its members.
I also take this opportunity to remind our members of the following events organized in conjunction with the Opening of the Legal Year for Sabah & Sarawak ("OLY 2025") which will be held in Kuching, Sarawak on Friday, 10th January 2025, as follows:-
